Rural Electrification in India – Ongoing since 2006
Working in partnership with nodal government agencies, Conergy Renewable Energy Singapore has been undertaking a massive initiative to supply power for rural communities in remote parts of India. This involved local subsidiary Conergy India managing the design, supply and installation of solar power packs, solar home and street lighting systems as well as small photovoltaic power plants designed to generate electricity for villages away from the grid. To date, over 250 villages have been electrified with improved quality of life for more than 100,000 people.
Singapore Milk Run – July 2006
In July, 10 employees at junior, middle and senior management levels participated as a corporate team in a 9.6 km charity run in Singapore organized by Mainly I Love Kids (MILK), a local charity organisation dedicated to helping disadvantaged children. Funds collected at the run were used to support programmes for youths and children from low-income families, as well as those suffering from chronic illnesses or physically-handicapped.
City2Surf Fun Run in Australia – August 2007
Organised by the Sydney Herald Newspaper, the City2Surf Fun Run in Australia is a major fundraising event that has been ongoing for more than 37 years. In 2007, nine employees from Conergy Australia joined over 64,000 other runners to participate in a 14 kilometre leg of the race. In total, the run raised more than A$ 830,000 for a number of Australian charities.
Charity Golf Tournament in India - November 2007
Under the motto “Golf with a Goal”, Conergy India undertook a charity project together with the Lodge Elysium Masonic Trust as lead sponsor in a fundraising golf tournament in New Delhi, India. More than 13,000 Euros were raised at the Conergy Renewable Energy Golf Cup Tournament, which will be used to supply and install solar lighting and electricity solutions for 500 people in Dewri Gowda, a village in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, India.
Red Cross Appeal for China Earthquake – June 2008
In support of the China earthquake in May 2008 that left more than 442,000 dead and injured in Sichuan, Conergy China and Conergy Renewable Energy Singapore responded to a Red Cross appeal for donations, matching employee contributions dollar-for-dollar in the cause. |
